Slattery - Proud of Every Kilometre Ridden

16 Oct 2025

Supporting Partner Slattery is gearing up for the camaraderie and challenge of  the upcoming Melbourne Tour de PIF on 14 November.

We talked to Slattery’s Communications and Marketing Business Partner Georgia Taylor about the incredible 2000 kilometres her organisation has ridden in Melbourne Tour de PIF over the past 12 years, and why they keep coming back each year.

“Over the last decade, team Slattery has collectively cycled more than 2,000km to support youth homelessness. We’re proud that every kilometre ridden and every dollar raised has helped deliver real projects to provide young people with safe, secure and nurturing spaces, empowering them to rebuild their lives.”

Georgia Taylor, Slattery

Slattery has participated in every Tour de PIF since its inception - what first inspired the company to get involved?

From the very beginning, we were drawn to the Tour de PIF because it aligns so strongly with our values and commitment to creating better outcomes for communities through the built environment. The event not only strengthens industry relationships and supports a socially responsible property sector, but also allows us to make a tangible, positive impact by supporting critical services for young people at risk of homelessness.

Twelve years on, the camaraderie, the challenge of the ride, and the opportunity to help build safe places for young people to rebuild their lives continues to motivate us to return each year.

How has the event evolved over the years?

The Tour has grown tremendously. Each year, we see more riders, more energy, and more awareness around the Foundation’s cause. The event has become a favourite fixture in the property industry calendar, continually evolving while staying true to its mission. The commitment to addressing youth homelessness remains at the heart of the event and the Foundation consistently elevates the event to maximise its impact.

How does the team usually prepare for the event - any fun traditions or rituals?

Training rides are a big part of the build-up. Not only do they test fitness, they also cultivate team spirit, friendly competition and plenty of banter before event day.

Many of our participants have also been part of TKM (The Kingsmen), a long-running group that rides on Beach Road every Tuesday and Thursday. It’s been the unofficial “Slattery training squad” for years — and will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2026!

What do you enjoy most about the Tour de PIF event day?

The post-ride recovery lunch is always a highlight, offering a chance to unwind, share stories from the ride and reflect on individual performances. The King of the Mountain / Queen of the Mountain segment adds a layer of friendly competition and humour to the day.

And, without fail, Stuart Verrier’s auctioneering performance keeps the entire room entertained. His trademark wit, good-natured roasting of the crowd brings laughter and generosity together in support of a great cause.

Why is supporting the Property Industry Foundation’s mission important to Slattery?

Youth homelessness is one of the most pressing challenges facing our communities. More than 46,000 young people experience homelessness in Australia, many without access to stable accommodation or support services. As part of the property and construction industry, we believe we have a responsibility to help create the foundations for safer futures for our communities.

What does it mean to know your involvement helps create safe housing for homeless youth?

Over the last decade, team Slattery has collectively cycled more than 2,000km to support this cause. We’re proud that every kilometre ridden and every dollar raised has helped deliver real projects to provide young people with safe, secure and nurturing spaces, empowering them to rebuild their lives.

What are you most looking forward to this year?

This year the Slattery peloton features an even gender balance and five first-time Tour de PIF participants, including our new CEO Nick Bensley. Joining them is veteran rider and former King of the Mountain, Associate David Kelly. The Tour de PIF offers a unique combination of impact, team bonding, professional networking, and personal challenge. We’re excited to return to Healesville in our Slattery jerseys, and most importantly, to contribute to the 2025 fundraising goal, helping the Foundation deliver even more safe places for young people to call home.
