Colliers Champions Sydney Charity Regatta

09 Dec 2024

It's Collier’s 18th year as Principal Partner of the Sydney Charity Regatta and they’re as excited as ever for the race start on 14 March 2025. Malcom Tyson, Chief Executive Officer, Australia, reflects on Colliers continued support for the event.

Why is the Foundation a charity you continue to support, year-after-year?

If there's one cause that we can make a major difference to as a collective in the property and construction industry - it’s the Property Industry Foundation. The impact made by supporting the Foundation is very tangible – you really can see how it helps the lives of young Australians in need through the homes they provide.

Colliers has confirmed their commitment as the Sydney Charity Regatta’s Principal Partner until 2026 – what appeals to you about the event?

One of our core values is doing what's right for the community. And in addition to that, it's a great way to start the year and reconnect with the broader industry. We see people in a business sense each day. However, the Charity Regatta is different from any other corporate event. It's a very positive environment and it makes you realise how rich in character the property and construction industry is when they're getting behind causes like this. A day out on the harbour is always such an incredible experience.

Will Colliers be fielding a crew in 2025?

Absolutely, we always have both a race and spectator boat with some key clients; as well as plenty of Colliers volunteers assisting on the day. It’s a great day of networking and provides the unique experience of sailing on the incredible Sydney Harbour – all with the benefit of knowing you are making a real impact and difference to homeless youth. It’s a great day all round.

What other ways does Colliers support the Foundation’s ongoing building projects and initiatives?

We have an initiative in place at Colliers, called ‘Colliers Gives’. Every employee receives one day of paid leave each year to support our local community or area of interest through a Volunteering Day, which can be completed as a team-building experience or solo. This sees our teams support all kinds of groups and charities and we have countless teams volunteering for the Property Industry Foundation across the year, outside of the flagship events. Volunteering at various Haven House working bees is hugely popular with our teams – be it painting, cleaning, gardening, or building furniture. They get a lot out of it.

Join Colliers at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia for the Sydney Charity Regatta and enjoy a sailing experience that changes the lives of vulnerable and at risk young people. Over 244 bedrooms have been built through the fundraising efforts of this signature event over the past 25+ years.
