“We’re proud to support the Foundation, the Sydney SleepOut and the Haven House South Dowling project, which will provide more than 300,000 safe nights of sleep well into the future.” - Kate Hannaford, General Manager - New Business and Marketing, Richard Crookes Constructions (RCC)
“This is an event for young people, organised by young people. It gives us an opportunity to engage future leaders and broaden their experience.” - Cadie Doorley, Marketing Manager at RCC and Chair NSW Future Leaders Committee
“Our team of 20 raised more than $36,000, an outstanding result,” says RCC's Kate Hannaford.
“Last year’s overall fundraising target was exceeded, with 150 participants and 25 businesses supporting the event. It recorded a 25% year-on-year increase and continues to build momentum.”
A City Sleep Out for Change
Organised by the Foundation’s dynamic Future Leaders Committee, the Sydney SleepOut is an opportunity for the emerging players of the property and construction industry to make connections and learn more about youth homelessness and ongoing Foundation projects such as Haven House South Dowling – a flagship 19-bedroom project with The Salvation Army.
Cadie Doorley, Marketing Manager at RCC and Chair NSW Future Leaders Committee says the sleepout event offers rare connection, insight and clarity. “This is an event for young people, organised by young people. It gives us an opportunity to engage future leaders and broaden their experience.”
Setting up tents in Sydney’s open parklands drives home the bleak realities of sleeping rough as a vulnerable young person. “Sleeping in Centennial Park for one night is a stark reminder of the reality faced by 46,000 young people experiencing housing crisis, family breakdown, financial stress or unsafe living conditions,” says RCC's Kate Hannaford.
“The funds raised directly supports solutions to these issues and drives positive change for the whole community through collective action. It’s a great team bonding experience with an altruistic intent.” says Kate.
The Future Leaders Committee are working hard to finalise the event – which is sure to be a powerful night of connection and shared purpose. “Participants will gain deeper insight into the barriers facing disadvantaged youth, while connecting with industry peers,” says Cadie Doorley, Marketing Manager at RCC and Chair NSW Future Leaders Committee.
“The Future Leaders cohort is a catalyst for meaningful change. Join RCC’s team of 20 volunteers from across our business: from legal and marketing to site teams, alongside 180 industry representatives, and build safe homes and futures for young people.” says Cadie.
