The Property Industry Foundation is proud to welcome Cubro Opritech as Principal Partner of Construction Rocks 2026, our industry's battle of the bands, a night of live music, friendly rivalry, and real impact for young people experiencing homelessness.
Cubro Opritech designs and builds modular healthcare environments: operating theatres, procedure rooms, sterile processing departments, cath labs, and other high-acuity clinical spaces across Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific. Their projects bring together healthcare providers, architects, builders, quantity surveyors, engineers, and project managers to deliver technical clinical spaces faster, with less disruption, and far more certainty, often inside live hospitals, where there's no room for error.
We sat down with Paul Angus, Principal, Client Partnerships at Cubro Opritech, to hear why the company chose to step up as Principal Partner this year.
A natural fit
For Paul, coming on board was an easy call. "It's not a bad parallel for what we do at Cubro," he says. "The Foundation makes sure young people have a safe roof over their head. Every day, our teams are designing and building spaces to look after patients at their most vulnerable. Different job, same instinct, looking after the people who need it most."
That instinct is exactly the spirit the Foundation hopes every partner and guest brings to Construction Rocks. As Paul puts it, every ticket sold, every guitar solo, and every "questionable attempt at an eighties classic" helps fund a safe bedroom for a young person who needs one.
Paul's support for the Foundation goes back years, from Sleepouts, to pounding the pavement for fundraising walks, to getting out on the water for Regatta. He's been part of Foundation events long before Cubro signed on as Principal Partner.
Bringing the industry together, on and off site
Cubro's ties to the design, construction and healthcare sectors run deep, built on collaboration, trust, and relationships that last the whole project lifecycle. It's a philosophy that lines up well with what Construction Rocks is about: bringing the whole industry together for something bigger than any one organisation.
Paul will once again co-host the night alongside Matthew Sartori. The pair have now MC'd Construction Rocks together for four years running, and their double act has become as much a fixture of the night as the bands themselves. Behind the scenes, Paul volunteers on the fun-loving committee that spends months making the night's battle-of-the-bands changeovers look effortless, something he's had a front-row seat to for years. "There's something special about watching project managers, architects, builders, quantity surveyors, engineers, and healthcare providers swap the office and site for guitars and microphones for one night," Paul says. "Turns out there's no shortage of musical talent in our industry, it just needed a stage."
Expect plenty of laughs, a few surprise rockstars, and a crowd cheering every band on like it's the last song of the encore.
Behind the music, Construction Rocks is a battle of the bands, a fun, high-energy night for our industry to come together, take the stage, and raise vital funds for young people experiencing homelessness. Cubro Opritech's support helps make that happen, and it's a partnership built on shared values, success measured not just by projects completed, but by lives changed along the way.
"We measure our success by the projects we complete, but also by the patients who get better care because of the spaces we build," Paul says. "The Foundation measures theirs by the young people who get a safe place to sleep. Different work, same purpose."
